Reflux Control for Stents
Per the American Society of Clinical Oncology, esophageal cancer is the seventh leading cause of cancer death worldwide. Patients with this type of cancer are often presented with additional difficulties because many are not able to swallow.
Vysera has developed an advanced anti-reflux valve for use in esophageal stents, which are used in the palliation of esophageal cancer. The current antireflux valves on the market are ineffective, when patients belch and/or vomit, the valves often malfunction, leading to reflux of stomach contents and increased patient pain and discomfort.
Vysera's valve biomaterial and design is superior to current technology in that it will prevent reflux, while allowing the patient to belch and vomit. The product will be positioned as a clinically effective alternative for surgeons that wish to implant a well-designed stent with a technologically advanced anti-reflux mechanism. The product is currently in clinical trials.
